From my last post on the Adam Hansen Blog from the Tour Down Under to here in Oman a lot has happened.

Oman is quite different to home in so many ways.

I traveled From Australia, then to Cairns for one night at my mother’s place, then to my home in the Czech Republic for a nice short week, enjoying the lovely snow – I love it.

I did some good training there before heading to Belgium for the team’s presentation.

It was nice to see our train being featured in ProCycling magazine – that’s me pulling.

It’s been great to catch up with the team but damn it was cold out there. I do like the cold when I’m at home, warm clothes and warm house. But when you’re at a hotel and locked inside and can’t do any cross training, it’s hard.

Greg H and I mag’ed it indoor, just to make sure we got some type of training done…

A peloton of a different style.

After presentations we headed to Qatar for some training and hard racing. It’s always good to survive that race in one piece.

Now Oman, and we have André here – and another stage win in the bag!

Team talk in the desert.

We did some nice warm hours, and on the first day we won a super sprint.

It wasn’t so easy though, but we had five guys left with 1km to go and we all did a great job and delivered André in first place!

More soon,

Adam.

A Good Start for the Team

Dear VeloVeritas readers, tables have turned in Omega Pharma Lotto: we have had some success already in the season. Three wins is nice for the team at this early stage in the season - two with Phil [Gilbert, the 1st Stage of the Volta ao Algarve and the recent Montepaschi Strade Bianche] and one with André [Greipel, Stage 4 of the Volta ao Algarve]. André also bagged third in Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne last week, and so the team's moral is much better than last year at this time.

Adam Hansen Blog – From Sun to Snow

Sorry for the radio silence recently - I went off-grid a little, needed it after the Tour Down Under, and caught up with the family in Australia. After the TDU I headed from a sunny Adelaide to rainy Cairns before leaving for my home in the Czech Republic - the place to be.

Iain Macleod – 3:28:33; the fastest 100 mile time trial ever ridden on Scottish roads

It was 2019 when we last spoke to Iain Macleod - he was with Aberdeen Wheelers then but is now with Kelpie Racing - he’d just won the SC 50 mile championships and the man is making the headlines again; a couple of weeks ago he took the Scottish Cycling Olympic Time Trial title and before that recorded the fastest 100 mile time trial ever ridden on Scottish roads.

“No Ordinary Joe” by Brian Jones

One of the nice things about this gig is that people sometimes send you cool cycling books to review, in this case, ‘No Ordinary Joe’ sub-titled ‘Cycling Legends 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s, a unique collection of stories, USA & Canada.’

Alex Coutts – Scottish Professional with Flanders

After a year at DFL, 23 year-old Scottish professional Alex Coutts from Gorebridge, has renewed old sponsorship links with Flemish bike concern, Flanders. We caught-up with him recently at mentor John Anderson's Edinburgh shop, the Bicycleworks. Coutts was just back from a training trip to Spain and is already looking like he is ready for action.

A Dog in a Hat is the remarkable story of Joe Parkin. In 1987, Parkin left the comforts of home to become a bike racer in Belgium, the hardest place in the world to be a bike racer.
