Hi VeloVeritas readers, my name is Lindsay Gordon and I will be riding for the Bicycleworks.com Under 25 team this season and keeping a blog updated here too.

After taking up cycling seriously two years ago following a successful stint in running, I was introduced to theBicycleWorks owner John Anderson and have been under his guidance ever since.

I am also lucky enough to be coached by Rapha Condor Sharp pro rider James McCallum.

After few tasters of racing in bigger events last year and spending two weeks in Belgium I felt as though I had been introduced into a sport that only likes pushing peoples’ limits until they slowly submit, but after lots of advice and encouragment along the way, and being around riders in Edinburgh such as James, Evan Oliphant and Ben Greenwood,

I fancy a change, from Scottish rain to Belgian rain.

I am slowly starting to understand the sport of bike racing.

During my first two seasons I felt as if I have had enough kickings to progress into my third year with a bit of confidence of getting results in 2012, and racing in a young team that has been set up by John this season I am keen to get results in Scotland and Ireland – with a view to getting to Belgium later in the year and staying for as long as possible.

With my Irish connections on my Mother’s side I feel as though I can explore that system and see if I can progress in another scene, away from Scotland, so I intend to start my season in Ireland this year in late February and hopefully beforehand get to Spain (Calpe specifically) for a couple of weeks, in order to get some quality work done before the season starts.

After my experience in Belgium last year staying with fellow VeloVeritas blogger Dan Patten I am very keen to go back there and try and progress more in the kermesses.

I also see the British scene as a goal, aiming to do well in the Premier Calendar events although I will be choosing my races with care throughout the season.

My winter training is well underway, and from before Christmas I have been getting in regular 16 to 20 hour weeks with guidance from James, so I am happy with my condition already and with a little over month to go to the season begins, I have the feeling of ‘lets get started’!

I’m aiming to be updating my blog here every couple of weeks during the season.

Cheers for now, Lindsay

Dale’s Ups and Downs

Dale McCallum has indeed been a busy man throughout the season. He's been racing in the junior Scotland squad in all the national series, and has had some highs and some lows as we do as bike riders.

Kicking Off – Dale McCallum

Hi, my name is Dale McCallum and I'm 17 years old. This season I will be riding for The BicycleWorks Under 25 Race Team. Star of the Future: Luke Rowe – Already a Winner

It's not every day that a GB rider wins a Netherlands amateur classic; but that's exactly what 19 year-old Welshman Luke Rowe did recently in De 'arjaan De Schipper Trofee'-to give it the full Dutch treatment - a race won by a certain Fabian Cancellara, a few years ago.

The VeloVeritas Years – 2017: Bastille Day at Le Tour!

We've been covering the Tour de France for many years, and like most people who love cycle racing, it's one of the highlights of the year. Bastille Day at Le Tour is special, and the pressure on the French riders to perform is intense - we were lucky to be on the race when Warren Barguil took a fantastic win ahead of Nairo Quintana and Bert Contador. Fantastic weather, great racing, a change to catch up with old pals Adam Hansen and Jack Bauer, meant July 14th was a memorable day for both of us and is our pick for a highlight for 2017.

A Visit to Friends in Girona, and some Motorpacing

When I count up all the brilliant places I get to visit, or live in, or pass through, they’re in their hundreds. When I try and recount whether or not I have made the most of all the places I’ve been in, the answer is a resounding no. I decided that was about to change. For the last three years I have spent the winter on the South-East coast of Spain in my apartment down here.
